How Far Along: 37 weeks 5 days

It’s almost embarrassing to look back at where I started with these weekly pregnancy pics, but it’s also refreshing to see how far I’ve come. So…far! Here are some things I learned:

  1. Find a good backdrop (white is my fave!)

  2. Find a great outfit and wear it every time

  3. Get someone to take the photo (self-timer was a nightmare)

  4. Keep your chin down and smile

  5. Edit the photos to add some extra light

  6. Repeat

Cringe!!!!

Size: Baby is about 6 ½ lbs (maybe 7 already?) and is about 19 inches head to toe. Food comparison – Length of a bunch of swiss chard.

Weight gain: I didn’t have any Midwife appointments this week (shocker!) so I don’t know my weight.

Baby bump: Baby bump is low and round. Seriously, baby has dropped but is still making us play the waiting game. I had some cramps on Wednesday night that I thought were contractions but it was a false alarm. I felt fine the rest of the day with only a few Braxton Hicks. I did get excited (despite being uncomfortable) for those two hours between 1-3am. Nope. Another day.

Movement: I could never have imagined looking down at my tummy to see something rolling around in there. It’s so magical. It’s also sore. Baby is big and strong and those pokes are serious little punches. It honestly looks like a little alien is trying to break free out of there. Oh dear, I’ve watched too many syfy movies!

Exercise: I’ve started doing yoga in the mornings again and it’s been great. It’s still glorified stretching and balancing, but it really starts my day off with more focus and intent and I’m so happy I rolled out the mat again.

How I’m feeling: I had a much better week! I planned tea with mom and friends, had a dentist appointment, packed my “birthing bag”, washed all baby’s linens, baked and made more freezer meals. I knew planning a few things in the week would keep me busy and not bored out of my scull. Also, looking for a Pediatrician has been a much harder task than I ever imagined. Literally, it’s been harder than choosing my career.

Cravings/Aversions:

  1. Cravings- None! I had a great food week again!

  2. Aversions- Just sundried tomatoes, peanut sauce, and curry.

Food: Some things I ate this week –

  1. Veggie Pot Pie (leftovers for days! And one in the freezer for later)

  2. Tofu and rice

  3. Museli

  4. Vegan scones with jam and coconut cream…mmmm.

  5. Tofurkey sandwich (like everyday!)

  6. Fruit (peaches, plums and grapes are my go-to these days)

What I miss:

  1. Sleeping on my tummy and back (still my number one miss!)(I’m not changing this…ever)

  2. Sleeping period. Nah, it hasn’t been so bad. But I am going to the bathroom 3 times a night now instead of just one.

Nursery: A friend, Gillian, gave us such a beautiful Montessori mobile for our nursery! Thank you and your sister-in-law! The black and white is perfect for the first couple of weeks when babies are still developing the skills to distinguish colors.

Baby Purchases: We did a last minute return on our Graco Travel system because we didn’t like the way the car seat wiggled in the base in our car. The base latched nice and snuggly into the seat, but the car seat had too much wiggle room for our liking. We returned it to BuyBuyBaby and went on the hunt for a new travel system. Oh gosh. That took forever but we finally ended up ordering a Baby Trend jogging stroller and car seat. The stroller arrived yesterday and we love it! Hopefully the car seat arrives today or tomorrow. We thought we were so clever buying the travel system so early and then BAM, it bit us in the bum. Hopefully we get the seat before baby arrives otherwise we’ll need a lift home from the birthing center from someone with a car seat, lol.

Stroller– I love how the “toddler” seat converts into a bassinet! (2nd and 3rd picture)

I also did an impulse buy and bought two GroVia Newborn cloth diapers that were on sale in store for $9 (with the 20% coupon) at BuyBuyBaby. I’m so excited to see baby Deane wearing these!

Can’t wait for: This baby to be in my arms. I want to stroke his/her cheeks, sing songs and rock our baby to sleep. I know I’m going to be tired and overwhelmed, but that’s all part of the journey. Baby Deane, we are ready for you. Life is tough outside the womb, but we’ll be with you every step of the way. Love Mum and Dad x
